The “Future Generations Prepare for Life with AKUT” Project of AKUT Foundation, supported by Istanbul Development Agency, was carried out to lay the foundations of a disaster-prepared society so that future generations will suffer less from disasters, and to encourage children to support voluntary organizations in the fight against disasters starting from their youth.
Within the scope of the project, 90 Earthquake Awareness Seminars were held in 15 primary and 15 high schools in Istanbul; A total of 12.000 students and 8.450 teachers were reached. In addition, 300 students with “Social Values” training in 15 primary schools and 300 students with “Disaster Awareness” training in 15 high schoolswere included in the project.
One of the biggest outputs of the project was a board game called “Let’s Save Our Neighborhood Together” and a cartoon called “Our Children“. Both the board game and the cartoon have been specially designed in accordance with the mission and values of the AKUT Foundation. In addition, a workshop was held at the end of the project, and panels and workshops were held on the misconceptions about disasters, menstrual psychology, psychological trauma in children and youth after disasters, and the effects of media broadcasts on children.
